Satish Shetty case will be soon closed in pressure: Brothers had told me beforehand

I Amitabh Thakur, an IPS officer (UP Cadre) by profession, also working in field of transparency and accountability in Public life, present an important information brought to my notice in public domain for the sake of justice and for larger public interest.

RTI activist Satish Shetty’s brothers Sandip living in Pune and Santosh, living in USA had contacted me on phone and email in the beginning of July 2014. Santosh had sent me an email dated 03 July 2014 where he had apprehended closure of the murder case. He said “Without public support this case will be closed within the next one year. I am pleading to people like to help and guide us.”

Later Sandip told me on phone that the investigating officer (IO) of the Satish Shetty murder case, S P Singh from CBI, had told him that he is being put under tremendous pressure from senior officers of CBI to file a closure report in the case in the next few days but he is finding it very difficult to follow this dictate because there are enough evidence on record to charge sheet the accused. 

Sandip also told me that S P Singh told him that a few senior CBI officers were doing so for huge money and very soon a closure report would be filed. 

Again on 10 August (Sunday), both Santosh and Sandip called me on phone and told me that they have known from the IO that CBI shall file the closure report on Monday (11 August). They called me to Pune, where today I was witness to an irrefutable evidence which talked of the investigating officer lamenting about the improper pressure built on him by certain senior CBI officers under influence of money, to an extent that the IO was thinking of resigning from the service and taking up the cause.  

Considering the extremely serious nature of these facts, I am also bringing them to the notice of the Prime Minister of India for appropriate action.

मैं, अमिताभ ठाकुर, पेशे से एक आईपीएस अफसर हूँ और इसके साथ पारदर्शिता और उत्तरदायित्व के क्षेत्र में भी काम करता हूँ. मैं यहाँ एक महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य न्यायहित तथा व्यापक जनहित में अपनी व्यक्तिगत हैसियत में सार्वजनिक पटल पर प्रस्तुत कर रहा हूँ.

आरटीआई कार्यकर्ता सतीश शेट्टी के भाईयों, पुणे स्थित संदीप और यूएसए स्थित संतोष ने मुझे जुलाई 2014 के प्रारंभ में संपर्क किया था. संतोष ने मुझे 03 जुलाई 2014 को एक ईमेल भेजा था जिसमे लिखा था-“बिना जनसहयोग के यह केस अगले एक साल में बंध हो जाएगा. मैं आप जैसे लोगों से मदद और दिशानिर्देश के लिए संपर्क कर रहा हूँ.”

फिर जुलाई के पहले सप्ताह में ही संदीप ने मुझे फोन से बताया था कि सतीश शेट्टी हत्याकांड में सीबीआई के विवेचक एस पी सिंह ने उन्हें बताया है कि सीबीआई के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उन पर बहुत भारी बेजा दवाब बना रहे हैं कि वे अगले कुछ दिनों में ही इस मामले में क्लोजर रिपोर्ट भेज दें. उन्होंने कहा था कि विवेचक ऐसा करने में काफी दिक्कत महसूस कर रहे हैं क्योंकि उनके पास मामले में अभियुक्तों के खिलाफ कार्यवाही करने हेतु काफी साक्ष्य हैं.

संदीप ने मुझे बताया था कि एस पी सिंह ने उन्हें कहा था कि कुछ बहुत वरिष्ठ सीबीआई अफसर भारी पैसे के दवाब में ऐसा कर रहे हैं और उन्हें बाध्य हो कर मामले में क्लोजर रिपोर्ट प्रेषित करना पड़ेगा.

पुनः 10 अगस्त (रविवार) को संतोष और संदीप ने मुझसे फोन पर संपर्क कर कहा कि उन्हें सीबीआई के विवेचक से ज्ञात हुआ है कि सीसीआई सोमवार (11 अगस्त) को क्लोजर रिपोर्ट दाखिल करेगी. उन्होंने मुझे मदद के लिए पुणे बुलाया जहां आज मैं ऐसे साक्ष्य से रूबरू हुआ जिसमे विवेचक की व्यथा साफ़ दिख रही है और सीबीआई के वरिष्ठ अफसरों द्वारा भारी पैसा ले कर उन पर दवाब बनाए जाने और इस दवाब के कारण विवेचक द्वारा दुखी हो कर त्यागपत्र तक देने का मन बनाने की बातें इस साक्ष्य में सामने आती हैं.

इन तथ्यों की गंभीरता के दृष्टिगत मैं इन्हें प्रधानमंत्री को अवगत करा रहा हूँ ताकि मामले में जांच कर आवश्यक कार्यवाही हो सके.
